As it turns out, kissing can have some interesting effects on your oral health — everything from your teeth, to your gums, to your breath. The first pro to locking lips might seem a little obvious: kissing increases your saliva production, meaning that food particles and plaque will likely get washed away more quickly. Saliva is an important part of a healthy mouth.

However experts have warned that a lot of people are unaware that they have a problem with poor oral hygiene.
So here are six dental health tips to help you banish the bad breath and have the perfect kiss this Valentine's Day:.
Maintaining a consistent oral health routine is key to keeping the bad breath at bay. Ideally, this means brushing you teeth twice a day for two minutes with fluoride toothpaste, and also remember to brush your tongue.
Flossing at least once a day will help clean areas a toothbrush can't reach, and make sure to replace your toothbrush every three months or so. Drinking water helps promote healthy saliva production, which can wash away leftover food particles and avoid the growth of smelly oral bacteria.
Strong-smelling food and drinks such as onions, garlic or coffee can linger on someone's breath for up to 72 hours. While this effect may be temporary, chewing sugar-free gum after eating or drinking them can increase the flow of saliva, helping to eliminate the foul smells.
How to have kissable fresh breath
The lingering smell of smoke is one of the biggest causes of bad breath, and can leave teeth stained, irritates your gums and increases the chances of tooth decay and gum disease. Perhaps the easiest tip on this list, the act of kissing can stimulate the production of saliva which serves to naturally wash the mouth out, and fight tooth decay.
However a word of warning, the bacteria that causes decay can be spread through kissing, so make sure you follow the other tips on this list first!
