Super delicious and very very clean-a remarkably fresh interior especially for this neighborhood! Soup dumplings plus lots of authentic goodies. Fast friendly service and surprisingly uncrowded. My new one. Located in cultural plaza in chinatown.
We went to have our lunch after our snorkeling trip in the morning. We were so hungry.
The porridge here on the island is big portion for at least 5 small bowls. The sticky rice was pretty good. There are a lot other dim sum on the island This is my second visit. I was here 5 years ago and loved the food. I was told by a tiny older woman on the bus that this was the best dim sum in town. It still is. Great authentic dim sum. Not frozen, not pre-packaged, real cooked on site, amazing variety. Great option for a long session of testing different dishes.
My son loves the chicken feet, the shrimp balls are just right. The ladies just keep bringing more steaming, sumptuous dishes that we were unable to resist. I would go back every day if I lived here. Best dim sum I have had in a long, long time.
We were craving dimsum at 8am while on vacation recently and had no idea where to go. A quick Google showed Fook Lam with pretty good reviews and it was just a short bus ride into Chinatown. It is harder to find as it does not face the street, but it faces the river. Everything we tried was excellent, fresh and pretty cheap for Hawaii. I dare say that it is better than all the dimsum I've ever eaten in the Seattle area.
Oh and one more good thing, they open early! I remember at the time it was 8am.
We will definitely be back! We ate here with several friends and really enjoyed the experience and the truly amazing meal.
The restaurant was packed when we got there Sunday around 11am but we were able to kill a little bit of time by walking around the Chinese Cultural Plaza and taking photos. It was clear that this was a popular restaurant among the local Chinese population and rightfully so! We were given complimentary oolong tea upon arrival.
The service was incredibly fast and the carts frequently stopped by to see if we needed anything else. We tried several incredible dishes but some that were stand out were the Xiao long bao Shanghai dumplingspork hash, char siu bao, and the baked custard buns. Everything was delicious and fresh!
